A movement of those who care about children.

Yesterday morning the phone rang. It was my cousin, Rob, calling from Indiana. I stiffened, expecting to hear that a relative had died. Instead he started asking about Give A Child Life. Then he broke the news—his church had decided to make Give A Child Life its Christmas charity. I was thrilled!

Two weeks earlier, a friend, an Episcopal priest, had taken me to the church’s national convention. There I met several staff members working on missions projects. Information packets went out to them a few days later.

This is how getting a nonprofit started works—it’s not just my efforts—it’s the efforts of friends like you who care. It’s people going to their churches, talking to their friends, handing out GCL brochures. Research shows that the best givers in the US are people of faith and compassion. 

Give A Child Life has to be a movement of those who care about children. Things like this start slowly, but they keep pushing ahead as surely and as forcefully as the waves rolling to the beach.
